Fun Times

WOW! We've had so much fun the last
couple of days
First I'll give you an update on the
COPPERPONY!!!
We are on our 13Th day of bridling
Things are going really well
Doc is working really hard at making this
a fun thing
Dusty loves playing with the bit
We are making real progress
We are also started a new workout schedule
for Dusty
I need to get him ready for his BIG trip!!!

Cowboy and I took a drive in the country today
We found these beautiful old barns

This is my favorite

Yesterday we went for a boat ride

Rosie LOVES to go in the boat

This is a really old farm house

This tree is huge
There was an old barn in the background
but it was to far away and I couldn't get a picture of it

We used to go out in the boat a lot

when we lived on the canal at the beach

Cowboy told me yesterday it was one of

his favorite things to do with me and Rosie

Life seems so hectic at times

trying to fit everything in seems impossible

Our day starts of spending time with the

Copperpony

I love you Cowboy for understanding

how important he is to me and for

letting me love my passion!!!

TIME HAS A WONDERFUL WAY OF

SHOWING US WHAT REALLY MATTERS!!!

Thank you Cowboy !

Random Thoughts And Things

Someone snuck outside today!
Cowboy was out and felt something furry rubbing against him
and guess who?
Boggie got out and we did not see him
We are just thankful he stayed around and didn't get hurt
BUT
now he is crying and begging to get out again
He is going to drive us crazy!!!

This BIG rock was stuck in Dusty's shoe last week

IT is HUGH!!!

I was worried about a stone bruise
but he seems to be okay

Today his horseshoer came out and he got trimmed
and shoes put on his backs

Hoping to hear that the Copperpony was a good boy!
Last time he was kind of naughty

I just can't get enough pictures of my guy

Like I said before "I'm obsessed! "

I can't believe today was day 11 of our bridling
We are now using a training bit

Dusty is still having issues

BUT

it is all good!

Doc is working really hard at this
He is making it fun and playful

Dusty is really curious about this thing
we want to put in his mouth!
I am enjoying watching him
He is very relaxed and doesn't seem stressed
He is not tossing his head or moving his feet

Once he takes the bit in his mouth, Doc leaves it
in for a few minutes then he takes it out and

it goes away!!!

I'm really happy with the way things are going

I know it sounds like a long time,
but we will go out daily until it works!

I will keep you updated with the results!!!

These beautiful iris's are blooming in our yard

We also have some yellow ones which I took
a picture of and downloaded here,
and somehow I have lost it,

This is a small shady corner on our lot

We have sparrows making a nest in our carport
for the second year

Cowboy and I were wondering if they came back
every year to the same place

They love the bird bath

The male likes to sit on the porch rail and
watch Cowboy!!!

My 100Th post will be coming up soon!
I can't believe it

I am going to have a give-a-way!!!

When I started this blog, I was worried I wouldn't
have enough things to post,
but I have a list a mile long of up coming things!

Awhile back I did a post on COMING ATTRACTIONS
and still need to get it done!

So watch out for these things!!!

A Little Bit Of Everything

It has been not stop around here that last few days
I worked all weekend
This beautiful poppy just bloomed in my dad and mom's yard

This is Willie Mae Jane!!!
She is my great neice and is eight weeks old

Isn't she Beautiful!!!
She is Jessesdesertrose's grandaughter

Willie Mae with big brother Toby Jack
It was fun to see how she really
notices him at such a young age

They just cut this hay around the stable
I love seeing the fields

Here is the COPPERPONY
We are on day 10 of our bridling and it is not going well
DUSTY did Really, REALLY good the first four days
Then he became a stinker again
We are mystified, confused and frustrated

BUT
not giving up!!!

Doc has had the patience of a saint

Head is up in the air
Then it is down on the ground
We thought the copper bit was going to work
1 1/2 hours later still no bit in the mouth
Even applesauce wouldn't work
Doc decided to try his training bit
He put apple sauce on it, and
Dusty really seemed to like it!!!

He took the training bit three times
I was able to do it the third
We just can't figure out what
is going on with him

I have had his teeth done twice in the last
22 months that I have had him
I don't believe this is the problem
I think he just never had one used on him much
His last owner rode him in a hackamore
because she had the same issues
We know nothing of his history prior to that
We are wondering if his teeth are sensitive
to the metal?

Tomorrow is a new day, we have a few
more options

Is it bad to ride in a hackamore?
I work with a gal, and she does a lot of trail riding
and only uses them
What are your thoughts on this?
I don't have the funds to send him to a trainer

Doc is working really HARD on this

Cowboy and I really APPRECIATE him and his
efforts and the time he's spending trying
to figure out what is going on

I love you COPPERPONY

we will work it out together!!!

The Star Spangled Banner

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,

O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?

Naughty Boy, GOOD BOY!!!

Thursday was day five of our bridling lesson

COPPERPONY is doing SO good!!!

Doc worked with him on Friday and today for me
I will get back out to the stable on Sunday

Thank You
to all of my blogger friends for your
support and ideas!

I will continue daily with the bridling

We both are
feeling more comfortable and confidient

Doc has access to a horse trailer
so we thought it would be a good time
to give
Dusty
a refresher course on loading

Copperpony

doesn't THINK he wants to go in!

Naughty, naughty Boy

don't you hurt DOC!!!

He really was a GOOD BOY

during the whole thing

He only had one bad moment then the rest

of the time he would step in and out

Here Doc just walked him right in

It was my turn next, and we did it!!!

(camera battery went dead)

I have had Dusty for 22 months now

and I am finally seeing that he is realizing he

can trust us and we aren't going to hurt him

Things aren't so tramatic for him!!!

After all, he always gets CARROTS and apples

after a HARD days work!!!

Doc gets a bottle of Makers Mark!!!

Thank You Doc!!!

"The Wife" over at Gizzards & Calf Fries
has a beautiful sign posted on her blog today

"HOPE"

i think this is a great message for all of us in these
trying times

Hope is a dream in the midst of what can come
Hope gives you a future whatever passed
whatever done.
Hope is a light that breaks through the darkness
that surrounds us
Hope helps us find our way through to safer
loving ground.
Hope fights for you when things get tough
Hope keeps you going when you've had enough.
Hope though dims on times, stays through your sorrow
Hope brings you through by dreaming of tomorrow.
Hope tries to console you when your eyes glisten
with tears
Hope gives you something to keep going
whatever your fears.
Hope is free, beautiful, may fade, but never dies
Hope is always there even if it's light seems
dim at times.

"HOPE"

Thank you to "The Wife"

for such a

beautiful word !

Copperpony's Bridling

COPPERPONY was enjoying the nice day

he is always happy to see us!!!

Today was day three on my commitment

with bridling

I went out two different times and worked with Doc

Dusty was such a GOOD BOY!

He took the bit 5 times without it being a challenge

I think he realizes he has no choice!!!

Dr. Tony doesn't give in

and

Dusty Devoe is on a mission!

Tomorrow I know will be a good day!!!

Did some more free lunging today

I really feel like

my COPPERPONY is connecting with me!

A Copper Bit For The Copperpony

Awhile back I mentioned I wasn't motivated to
go to the stable and felt like I was my avoiding

"my COPPERPONY"

why would I do this?
literally, my life revolves around HIM

You left some really great comments, and got me thinking
about what it is that is making me feel this way

I have a great passion for my horse

I love him with all my heart and soul

I know he is the right HORSE for me
and
I know he likes me, even loves me and trusts me

we are a partnership for life

Saturday I went to the stable to ride the Copperpony
I brought him in and groomed him
then decided to lunge him in the round pen
I have been free lunging

Dr. Tony worked with us so we could
do it right and safely

Dusty did really good
He listened and payed attention to me
He turns when I ask him to
and
stops when asked and faces me

So far the day was going good.

I have mentioned that my boy has issues with certain things
I have not told you about his taking the bit issue!

When I got Dusty, his previous owner rode him in
a hackamore because she had issues
So I did the same
I rode him in a Parelli hackamore

But my trainer at the stable felt I needed
to have more control and wanted me to be
safer when out on the trail
So about nine months ago we
started working with him and the bit

It has been a struggle off and on
Rarely does he take it without a challenge

I am taking the blame for a majority of this
I spend a lot of time with him
but not in the saddle

Saturday I could not get him to take the bit

his head was in the air
on the ground
it just was not going to happen

luckily his feet weren't moving

I cried in his shoulder
I was so frustrated

I fought with him for thirty minutes
then I let him win

I rode him in his hackamore
I know I made a big mistake in letting
him have his way

Sunday I went back out to the stable
and
talked to Doc AGAIN about my ongoing issue
We talked about using a copper bit
and Doc loaned me one to try

Now, does this look like a guy that would give
give his mother grief ?!?

Dr. Tony spent a lot of time with my COPPERPONY

He had a lot of PATIENCE with him

This is the second time Doc got him to take it
no struggle this time

We really praised him and told him what a GOOD BOY he was

Dusty really seems to like it once it is in his mouth

Cowboy and I went back out today

and met Doc to go through the whole

process again

Dusty did better today
the third time was good
the fourth perfect!!!

Now we are on a mission!
and I don't mean mission impossible!

We are going to go out everyday
and
work with him

I am hoping by the end of next week
the COPPERPONY
will be begging for that copper bit!!!

THANK YOU again Dr. Tony for coming to the rescue
you are so appreciated!!!
I feel bad that I let this get out of hand
that I avoided riding because I wasn't in control
of the situation

I have made this commitment to myself and DUSTY

if it takes a month or two months

I will have the patience to help us to get through this

I LOVE YOU COPPERPONY!

Barn Cats

Meet the sweet barn cats where I board the Copperpony!

Cali

Cali is very shy
she is a beautiful calico

i have boarded at the stable for a year
and
have never been able to pet her yet

in-fact...

i am surprised she let me take
her photo without running away!!!

Meet McGyver
i love his green eyes

McGyver is not quite as bashful as Cali
and he lets me pet him!

this is Shelly

she is also shy like Cali

but...
she has sat in my lap when i have watched a lesson!
she is just the tiniest little girl

she will run from you if you try to pick her up
they're always hanging out in the barn
i love seeing them sleep on the hay bales

they think they are STARVING all
the time!!!
they love it when their Mommy, Miss Phyllis shows
up to give them their wet food

there are also several others that i rarely see

i love having them around!

Kayleigh

I am very sad today.

Kayleigh Anne Freeman went to Heaven last night.

I have been following "Kayleigh's Story"
for the last few weeks and fell in love
with this beautiful baby girl...

My heart is heavy and words can not describe
my sorrow for this family.

I pray they find comfort, strength, and peace
in this time of sadness

Their faith and trust in God is amazing

His Majesty

His majesty is in the mountains
It is beheld across the sky.
His majesty is in the rivers
I can see it with my eyes.

His majesty is in the birdsong
And in the mighty wind appears.
His majesty is in the seashore
I can hear it with my ear.

His majesty is in the nighttime
It is there at break of day.
His majesty is in the silence
I can touch it when I pray.

His majesty is in his people
That is why they're set apart.
His majesty is in their worship
I can feel in in my heart.

His majesty is all around me
Like sweet perfume upon the air.
And so with joy and gladness
His majesty is everywhere.

Mabel Gay Ashby

in loving memory of my beloved Aunt

You will be loved forever and never forgotten

precious baby

Happy Mothers Day To Me

Dear Lord,
You have given ME a wonderful gift:
two loving daughters. Today and every day,
let me show MY girls that I LOVE them by
the things I say and the things that I do.

Amen

I have been blessed with two of God's most

Precious Possessions...

my beloved Daughters

I give You my love and support

I will not judge YOU

I pray for your

happiness

I pray for your

well being

I see only your perfection, your inner beauty.

You make me PROUD!

"A Gift For You"

What could I give you that you'd keep for all time?

I'd give you the world...but the world isn't mine.

I'd give you the moon to shine every day

and give you the sun to brighten your way.

But I don't own the world...or the moon up above

so all I can give you is all of my LOVE.

It may not be much...but at least it is mine

and now it is yours to keep for all time.

i love you
