Look at my "BIG Hunk of LOVE!"

Yes, that's my COPPERPONY!
Sporting his BRIDLE...
Yes, 40 straight days!!!
We were determined to get the job done!
And we succeded!
Dusty has been such a good, brave boy through
all of this.
I could not have done it without you Doc.
You were there everyday, every step of the way
working diligently.
Thank you for all your patience and hours
that you spent helping and trying to
figure out what was going on.
You are a cherished friend.
Cowboy, thank you for allowing me to LIVE my dream!
You came to the stable everyday and offered your
help, insight, and support.
I love you!
Never a complaint from either one of you!
My Lily Bug is always on my lap while I am blogging!

Doc told me he would take me on a trail ride

if I could get the Copperpony bridled!

I made him keep his promise!!!

There is DNR property behind the stable that we

rode out on a couple days ago.

We stopped to talk to Cowboy and a secret visitor!?!

and got into these!

Dusty was feeling a little "ANTSY!"

He did not like the CReepy things around his feet.

I have never seen him behave this way.

He was stomping' his feet, dancing around,

and doing this quivering thing.

Doc and Dusty Devoe
LOOK who's here!!!

It's a "PONY GIRL"

What fun we had!

We scheduled a ride for the next day.

Will post about our adventures!!!

Pasture Ride

Things are going good with the bridling.

Copperpony and Dusty Devoe are making good progress.

Doc is hanging in there with us EVERYDAY.

We wouldn't be this far without him.

HE decided we needed to have a change of pace,

so we went for a ride in one of the pastures.

It was just what we needed to clear the minds.

It was such a joy to see DUSTY enjoying himself!

Thank you Doc, and thank you Cowboy for taking pictures.

I have been burning the candle at both ends.

I have a lot of blog reading to catch up on.

Lots of posting to do.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Pray With Me

My sister from " A Cowgirl's Grace" got some
heartbreaking news today.
Their Nephew, Ryan, took his life on Sunday.
I ask for your prayers for their family during this
devastating time of sorrow.
23rd PSALM
The LORD is my shepard;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of
righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death;
I will fear no evil; for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they will comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the
presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surley goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Quiet Nicker, My Sanity

My Copperpony talks to me when he see's me.
I LOVE it!
He didn't always, he's just started to the last few months.

Lately he seems so HAPPY I'm there.

I cherish these moments.

We are on day 30 of our bridling.
Things have been progressing slowly,
but on a positive side.
Today I felt Dusty took a couple steps backwards.
He wasn't as cooperative.
I was disheartened, sad, frustrated...
felt defeated.
I am trying to find strength in the struggle.
Trying to be confident.
Praying he will stay calm and figure it out.
Wondering what he is thinking?
Why is this such a struggle for him?
What was his life like before he became mine?
I will go back out to the stable tomorrow
with hope in my heart.
I pray for patience.
I thank God everyday for this precious gift.
This journey is about life, learning and LOVE.
It's about the love I have for my horse,
we will get through this one day at a time.

Cowgirlz Inspiration

Look to this day,
For it is life,
The very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
The realities and verities of existence,
The bliss of growth,
The splendor of action,
The glory of power-

For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision.
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day.

You Have To Make Your Life Happen

Cowboy and I have always loved to go for rides in the country.
We moved back to our hometown 1 yr ago after being away 38 yrs.
We have a dream...
We share that dream with my sisters and their spouses.
We hope to own a small Ranch one of these days.
A place where we can have horses, a garden,
and watch our grandchildren play.
A place where we can grow old together.
On our adventure the other day we came across
this abandoned farm house and barn.
There was a FOR SALE by Owner sign out by the drive.
approx 10 acres
The driveway was blocked by this old piece of equipment.
We decided to go check it out.

It was pretty cool!
Most of the property is flat pasture land.
The original farmhouse had burnt down .
It was built in 1859
There is a small guest cottage that someone
has started to remodel.
Lots of outbuildings.
Cowboy and I found this growing on the property.
It is huge.
It is one of our favorite's.
It's a Beauty Bush
It smells wonderful!!!

The red building is the back of the guest house.

This is the front of the barn.
It was built in 1860
It has 7 stalls
At one end you could store hay.
It has large tack room.
It is really quite big and in good shape.

You see this end of the barn as you go up the driveway.

This is the inside of the barn.

More stalls.

This old truck is in the barn.

So now you are probably wondering how I know
when the house and barn were built?!?
I called the number on the sign to get some information.
The fire was caused by electrical in the old farmhouse.
The man I talked to told me his father-in-law owned
the property.

He is a multi-millionaire and eccentric.
He was not is a hurry to sell it,
because he doesn't need the money.

He would carry a contract if enough money was put down.

What we liked about this piece is that it is open. LOTS of sunshine!

I guess I can DREAM!
Yes I DREAM the LAZY TRIPLE J will become a reality
someday soon!

Dusty Devoe

Shiney Copperpony

Look at this shiny COPPERPONY!
He had a bath today!
It was a good day.
He was on his best behavior... ALMOST!!!
He threw a little foot stompin' temper tantrum...
and I mean HE STOMPED that back foot down HARD.

SO

guess what?!?

He got sprayed with water again because he told us
he could do it,

then decided he couldn't !?!

Doc is rinsing DUSTY

You will see in the video that he keeps
picking up his back foot and he
stomped his left front foot!
I'd like to think it is the water running down his leg

that is bothering him...

or NOT!!!

There was no backing up,
No dancing around.
He let us get the job done!!!

GOOD BOY

Today was day 25 of bridling.
We are trying something a bit different.
Doc had a lengthy discussion with Miss Phyllis,
our trainer at the stable.
Everything we have done to date is good.
She says there is no rule of thumb here on when
he should be taking it easily.
Every horse is different.
In all fairness to Dusty,
we don't even know if he has ever been ridden in a bit
before this.
After two attempts of bumping
his head down after he raised it and asking him to put your

HEAD DOWN!
OPEN YOUR MOUTH!...
We went to plan B!!!
Out came the stud chain, across the nose.

Doc took over.

One GENTLE BUMP...

put your head down...
open your mouth...

AND he took the bit!!!

It slid right in!

HE CAN DO IT!!!

Tomorrow will be a new day and day 26!
Like I said before
we are on a mission and I don't mean mission impossible!
I don't want to do it is not an option!!!

Copperpony got to graze and dry in the

warm sunshine when done

and he got LOTS of carrots and apples!

THANKS DOC!

Dusty Rocks

I LOVE this!

it hangs in my tack room at the stable

Pony Girl added the "Dusty rocks!"

COPPERPONY just finished
his 23rd day of bridling.
Cowboy and I head out to the stable
every morning to meet Doc .
We are committed to making this work!
Dusty is really being a good boy!
He is just about there.
He is learning he has to keep his head down.
He is not tossing it all around.
He is not moving his feet.
He is standing still.
He is realizing that it is not going to hurt him.
I am happy with the progress.
Thank you Doc for your willingness to continue
with this until we get the job done.
We appreciate and respect your
experience, knowledge, attitude, patience and compassion
when working with our beloved DUSTY.
COPPERPONY is on his second week of his
workout schedule. He has 2 months to get in shape
for his big trip!
Now I don't want all of you to think I am being mean
to my boy!!!
I have taken the workout challenge with him.
I am going to curves 3 days a week,
riding ROCKET everyday, and riding and working with
my boy. I am even doing some bareback riding.
Not just walking, we are doing a jog/trot and
I am LOVIN' it!

I love how this journey requires me to continue

learning.

I have the desire, and attitude to face my fears.

I am building trust and a deeper bond.

I put my heart and soul in to DUSTY'S well being.

He's given me his love, strength, courage.

I am grateful for the many blessings in my life!!!

Heart Of Gold

Yesterday was a heartbreaking day at my stable

We lost another one of our precious girls

Out of respect, the stable always shuts down

They allow our equine friends to pass

with dignity and grace...

What a beautiful girl she was

I will never forget her eyes

"GINGER"

She flew to Heaven On The Wings Of Angels...

May you gallop the trails of Heaven
in peace and without pain

Sweet "GINGER" you will live in our

Rocket

I have a new girl to ride!!!
Her name is "ROCKET."
She promises she won't have an attitude,
won't buck me off,
she's an easy keeper, and the

COPPERPONY
will
not be jealous of her!

A few weeks ago I showed you some pictures of

"ROCKET"

she is my old, new ride!

Have you guessed what she is yet?

Here she is!
Meet "ROCKET"
I had not ridden her in 38 Yrs!

She was sitting in the driveway when I came
home from school one day approximately
I was in the 4Th or 5Th grade.
A Cowgirl's Grace and I both got one.
They were identical, just like us!
One was a little darker in color.
I can't tell you how many miles I have on her.
We rode our bikes everyday, everywhere.
We lived up on a hill, and there was a BIGGER hill to ride up.
We loved to coast down, with no hands on the handle bars!
I remember putting cards on the spokes with clothes pins
and loved hearing them flapping when riding!
She has the original tires on, one of the handlebar covers
is different, and I remember the seat being blue and white,
now it is black.
I had a pretty bad wreck on her a few weeks after I got her.
Our neighbor was sitting on the seat, and I was standing up
pedaling, and we were riding down a small hill,
we hit gravel on the shoulder and wrecked.
No helmets were worn back then.
I got a cut above my left eye, and had to have a few stitches.
I still have the scar.
Karen broke her arm.

"Rocket" got her first owies!
I was more worried about her than me!
I rode barefoot a lot and hated it when I stubbed my toe.
I will always wear shoes NOW!!!
I am trying to find some old pictures of us riding.
She pedals like she did when she was new!
Really smooth! She is really, really fast!!!

The first time I rode her again, I didn't want to get off!

I feel like a little girl!!!

I am having so much fun.

Don't worry COPPERPONY

my HEART still belongs to you!

My niece Sares, from LOVELEIGH TREASURE'S

Dusty Devoe

Pirate Princess

We ride in the beautiful cemetery behind our houses.

Sares is riding Jessesdesertrose's childhood bike.

We were naughty and stopped for an ICE-CREAM CONE!

Cowboy is so good to me!

He decided she needed washed!

He oiled her chains!

She had to have air in her tires!

I never called her "ROCKET" when I was a kid.

But seeing the name on her,

I decided she needed to called

"ROCKET"
