Random Thoughts

"All That Jazz" is moving!!!

A space has become available for us to move downstairs.

We are excited to be where all the traffic is.

We have had a first great month.

I mentioned I was overwhelmed.
My work schedule is different eveyweek.
I just try to go with the flow,
but sometimes it just gets the best of me.

Life always has it's ups and downs.

I've been having some issues with constant muscle aches
for awhile now.

Went in for a physical last week.
Just a few minor things.
Lacking Vitimin D and my cholesterol needs to be lowered.

Tested negative for Rheumatoid factor.

Most likely Fibromyalgia.

Started medication a week ago.

Hoping it will do the trick!!!
I will rise above the storm!
I feel very lucky, it could be worse.

Hoof beats in my heart!

How can this sweet boy be such a stinker at times.

Yesterday we started our "getting in shape program."

He didn't think he needed to be on the lunge line.

Cowboy thinks he forgot.

NO! NO! NO!

He did not forget.

He remembered real fast!

It was also time to worm him.

Now that was a challenge.

But we got through it.
Doc noticed he has "scratches" on two of his legs.
His turnout has been pretty wet and muddy.
It should be getting better now since the
weather is getting nicer.
I researched it tonight, and it is common to get it
on white leg markings.
Guess what?
It's on both of his legs with white socks.
So we cleaned and treated it.
This is the first time he has had it.
Rise above the storm and you will find Sunshine!
Mario Fernandez

I am blessed!

Have a great weekend!

I think that you and Dusty are starting to share ailments. When all you do is think and dream ponies, you end up being one. YARMF

Sorry you aren't feeling all that well. It will get better!!
So glad you got to move to a bigger space, I am sure you all will do very well!
Scratches is very common. The horses at work get it and they are in stalls. But they get it from wearing bell boots. Unfortunately the english horses have to wear bells because they have the big shoes on.
What works really well to treat scratches is Nolvasan. Hose off the affected area, rub in Nolvasan and use your fingernails to remove the scabbies and rinse. You can also get Nolvasan in a cream to put on after the legs are dry. It should only take a few days to heal up if the scratches aren't really bad. It works wonders!!!

Dusty , I have Fibromyalgia and lupus. I don't want to take up a huge amount of space on your blog , but look up the benifits of increased calcium and magnesium ans well as higher dose vit D . And there is a product called D Ribose (has really helped me )all are avail OTC . email me if you would like

It sounds like your plate is FULL! But if I had to guess you would say GOOD, full, which I know doesn't make it any less exhausting but as you say you are enjoying it. Please take 20-30 minutes for YOU each day, shut the door, put the music on and enjoy, NOW I KNOW THIS SOUNDS IMPOSSIBLE but I truthfully tell you this advice I think saved my sanity in a very hecktic time in my life. YOU deserve it! Enough preaching. Take care!

How great to be moving to a better location for the store.
I agree with some of the other posters, it is uncanny how our heart horses and us end up being reflections of each other-right down to ailments.

I've heard that magnesium is good for migraines, too?
I am excited about the move and think opening up the space will really help draw in shoppers!
Glad that Dusty is back on the longe line, free-longing is great but the longe line also helps him remember some manners and who is in charge. :) Glad the scratches are treated, I was thinking it was mud fever- is that the same thing? Maybe mud fever is what PG's horses were starting to get and scratches is different.

Pony Girl, that is where I first read the info on Magnesium ,I was researching an alternative for my migraines. Wont get into technical stuff ,bu there is a lot of good info online about Magnesium, for pain relief (muscle relaxant) and Clacium+Vit D

Oh I hope you don't have fibromyalgia! I was feeling so tired and weak about a year ago and it was lack of Vitamin D and thyroid was low. My endocrinologist put me on a huge dose of 50,000IU of Vitamin D once a week then later got me on Synthroid. I felt better after that and continue to take it. Good luck sometimes it takes a while to get the right doctor and the right medications

Scratches and Mud Fever are the same - Skyler had them, and unfortunately, it caused his hind legs to really swell up and he was really tender. He had to be on stall rest for a while - that did not go over well. He hasn't had it since he's moved to the farm, though.

Scratches are a royal pain. They can get them on their dark legs too. Also, seems to me once they do get them, they are more susceptible to getting them again. Good luck with them.

Hope you are feeling better. I have a couple of friends with fibro and it sucks.

I think George used to get those although I did not knwo what it was then. Jesse has never had them. It would be good for you if you could have a steady schedule to rely on. I think that that is a big bummer in stableizing your life and getting into a routine that works well for you, cowboy and Dusty! Love you!!!

I had fibromyalgia for years, so I can really sympathize with you. It is awful!!! You need REST....When I had it, they did not have the medications for it that they have now. I hope the medicine helps you. Your store looks great....your horse looks great, too!!

Great news about moving into high traffic....it helps! Sorry you're feeling bad. I just went to my endocrinologist yesterday and received wonderful news! I was told two years ago I had Hypothyroid so have been taking medication. First my OB/GYN put me on too much and levels were abnormal, then I started loosing hair and muscle fatigue. I'll try to make this short. My levels were STILL abnormal and getting too much medication. I've been praying that I can get off....and it looks as though it's happening! Each visit they're abnormal because of too much medication and I'm on a very low dosage anyway! Another one of God's answer to my prayers! Have you had your thyroid checked for Hypo? Sounds like similar symptoms. Hope you get it figured out soon!

You sound so pretty upbeat for having so much to deal with. Good for you. Scratches were a big deal on the on one horse I had that got it. It was extremely painful for him and after the first treatment, he didn't want me to touch him. Good luck on your store move and I hope you feel better soon.

I have had a fibro diagnosis for about 10 years. Started in my 30's with fevers and pain. I got really depressed. Now, I just live with it. Somedays are better than others. I don't even say I have it to anyone. Hot soaks are a big help as is the vitamin D. Hang in there. Think of it as an adversary and don't let it get you down.
