Group Rides

We've been having a group ride at the stable on Monday nights.

Most of these women trailer in.

It is so much fun to watch them.

This was the second time they got together.

A Cowgirls Grace and I have been told we can join.

Part of me wants to.

But then fear always slips in. Why?

Fearful of what? Especially when I think I would enjoy it.

Miss Phyllis, our lovely trainer will stop the ride,

and spend time with any horse or rider having issues.

I think my Copper Pony and I would have fun.

It would be a great experience for us.

Awhile back Pony Girl had a great post.

The question was...

When you do something, do you operate on

fear or hope?

FEAR almost always for me.

I think it's time for a change!!!

I know all about fear.. I now embrace it and see how much I can accomplish when I set free of it !

You can do it !

Oh, group riding is so fun! You should definitely join in, and if something does go awry, know that there are tons of people to work it out. Thankfully I was riding with someone else when I broke my arm!

You should try it at least once. If you don't like it, you don't have to do it again. I recently joined an all female motorcyle club. Unfortunately, I missed the first ride due to mechanical problems. I was really looking forward to the commraderie and support. Will definitely make sure I am ready for the next ride.

I think you should do it. It would be a great experience and like Mama H says, you will have so many people to help you if something goes wrong! I also think it would be good for Dusty. Can't wait to hear what you decide to do!

Definitely do it! It's the perfect time to help your copper pony get some experience in the arena w/other horses, as well as yourself. And your trainer will be there to help if there are any issues!!
p.s. Out of curiosity, is it free?

I forgot to comment on the video. It looks like a drill team practice. Is it really structured? That might make you feel better, then it's just not just riders going a hundred different directions and not watching out for others, etc. I've never seen so many horses in that arena, LOL!

Pony Girl,
Yes there is an arena fee. I am confused as to the amount. Someone said $16 for 4 weeks. Someone else said ea time. Need to confirm. Yes it is structured. Miss Phyllis is directing riders what to do at all times. Only issues so far, 2 horses being afraid of the mirror on the end of the wall. She stopped everyone, and helped horse and rider work though it. Safety comes first!

I used to always operate on hope, but that philosophy was drastically changed after my two horse related injuries this year.

Now I don't know if I'll ever be able to operate off of hope instead of fear. Once you know that you can be seriously injured, you are changed forever. :(

That riding group sure sounds like fun. Do they just ride in the arena? That sounds safe enough.

Is there a charge even if you board there??? or just for the people that trailer in? You and Cowgirls Grace should just cowgirlthefuckup and do this!!! What are you horses going to do? they have been in an arena with 12 other horses at the stampede and handled it. The King should be fine now that he has had some arena time and she knows he's a big bluffer!

I'm going with try it and if you don't like it nothing lost. It sounds like a pretty safe situation, with a nice big arena and someone leading the group.

I've been at some group riding events in a too small arena with people bringing barely broke horses or people congregating and talking not riding and blocking everybody. That situation is not fun.

Riding with other women did more for my confidence than anything else I tried. I am blessed now to have a huge circle of friends to ride with. Many of us re-riders and then the pros to whom we all learn from. I just blogged about the fear I experienced when I first started back with horses at about age 40. It didn't disappear overnight - took years and still lingers. But the "girls" I ride with all understand - have experienced some of it themselves - and we've helped each other to do the things we have always dreamed of doing. Riding.
