Is that where his old crack issue was? Wait, I think that was in the front of the hoof?
Maybe this is just due to wet hooves? My Boy's get a little like that around the nails when they get soft from too much moisture.

Copper Pony had a loose shoe, but he managed to step on it and pull it off and do some damage. This is on a front hoof. The crack has grown out and hasn't been a problem since he's had shoes on.
Oh poor thing!! You both I mean LOL!! It's never fun when these things happen...
What are we doing up at this time of night!!!
That is quite a chunk! Usually we don't have that kind of problem until it is summer and the ground is really dry and rock hard. Hope it isn't serious!
Keep us updated. Hopefully that doesn't get any worse than it is.

That hoof is nasty. Is the copper pony trying to drive you nuts? Does he know what a short drive that is? I think that you need to tell the old dustbuster that you are going to haul his butt to the salebarn if he doesnt staighten up. And sound like you mean it.

he only had a loose shoe prpbably when you saw it. Doc Tony said Dusty stepped on it and pulled the shoe off and a chunk of his hoof.
Well...I heard about Dusty's hoof owie from his "Nana" last night on the phone!
