I've Got The Crud

So eveyone around me is sick or has been sick with the flu bug. At work, at home, family. I think alot of people don't realize they are contagious and they end up passing it around. They say it's just a cold, I don't know what I have, or just don't give a $%&@. Some are not considerate. Well guess what, I am sick. I don't get sick. Maybe a minor cold. Now I am supposed to work today. Do I do what the rest of the people do and try to tough it out. I have a 7 hr shift. You see, I am a deli-cashier. I am not running to the toilet every ten minutes. No sore throat, no chillls, no fever. But I do have a stuffed up nose, cough and I think I am getting body aches. The BIGGEST problem is, I can not afford to miss work. My employer has cut hours to less than half. I have just taken some medicine to see if that takes away my symptons. I am not blamimg anyone for this, but please people, let someone know if you are not feeling well, or STAY home. So now I have to make the agnoizing decision whether I should work and try not to pass this to someone else. I NEED the paycheck. Sorry to vent!

Auntie Dusty Devoe, Sorry you're not feeling better today. I think that if you have the same symptoms I had, you may not have a choice about going to work, you physically may not be able to do it. It left me feeling very weak . Today is the first day I feel pretty normal. It's day six for me. Hopefully you're symptoms don't last as long. Hope you feel better soon. Try some tea with honey if you have any, it helped me feel a bit better.

I am sorry to hear you are ill, Auntie. I hope you have a quicker recovery than Sares.

In your line of work its hard to avoid sick people. Even if it is "just a cold" being exposed to it repeatedly wears a person down.
I have the same problem, I'm a hostess/supervisor at my hubbie's family's restaurant. Which actually makes it even harder to call in sick!

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I just had a cold 2 weeks ago. The other half got it from somewhere,(he NEVER gets sick!) and gave it to me! Everyone has been sick at work or their kids are sick with the flu. It sucks. That time of year unfortunately :(
Hope you are feeling better soon!
Love ya

I think you should work until you really feel like you are too sick to work. Technically, if you stay home just one day, it's not going to prevent you from being contagious because you can be contagious for days. It will just give you time to rest, feel better and get the immune system doing what it is supposed to do. Now if you have a fever, you should not go back to work until 24 hrs. after the fever!
Sorry you are sick, it's that season and going around and there is nothing you can do to prevent it despite the best vitamins, it happens. Now, take care of yourself and get better soon! :) ((((((hugs))))))

Horseshit!!! if you're sick now and I kissed you 2 days ago...will I get sick??? I have rides 3 days in a row that I will hate tooooo miss. I know it's not the same as your paycheck....but I would gladly pay you to get sick for me,then I won't have to get sick. I think it would be a fare trade!!! I am truely sorry you don't feel good and the rule of thumb is when you need that paycheck...don't make yourself sicker so you have to miss more work to get better. The exposure time on these things is sooo small that you have already exposed those of us you are going to, unless it's small pox!

Sorry your not well,It's ok to vent isn't that what having your own blog is for? LOL I'm loving what I've been reading! You've gotten alot of great advice, most important to prevent getting sick is really just washing your hands a ton!!!I'm a nurse, and I have the reddest dryest hands, but haven't been really sick yet, fingers crossed! It ran through the kids & DH but I managed to duck it mostly!Even being home with the kiddos I'm a washing my hands fanatic! Hope you feel better real soon!
